SUPER HEAVY HAUL

Multiple configurations to meet your transportation needs.

Palletized Trucking Inc.

SUPER HEAVY HAUL

Total transportation management program for projects and super loads.

Palletized was a major player in the Houston super heavy haul industry for 15+ years and was part of one of the most historic moves in the region, the relocation of the NASA 747 to the Houston Space Center. In 2016, we made a strategic decision to exit the super heavy haul industry and focus our efforts on other operating divisions.

In lieu of offering these services with Palletized assets, we now offer logistics services where we can manage jobs completed by our industry partners with the capabilities to service our customers’ super heavy haul needs.

Does your staff have all of the proper credentials?

While we are not directly moving the Super Heavy Haul loads with our assets, we have a team that is experienced in the industry and still hold certifications for super load transportation in the Houston area. If together we select an Industry Partner to help complete your transportation needs, we know they are qualified for the job.

How much lead time do you need to prepare to move Super loads?

Due to the size of the freight that we move in this division, the most states require 6-8 weeks to issue permits.

How much notice do I need to provide to schedule a superload?

Superloads are loads which exceed the dimensions and/or weights normally issued on routine permits. The definition of a superload varies from state to state. For an example, Texas defines a superload as one which, when loaded, exceeds 20′ wide, 18′-11″ high, or 125′ long. A permit of this description requires advance application and physical route inspection. Time for this process to be completed can be several days, a week, or even more depending on the distance to be traveled, and whether or not utility companies have to be involved.

When the load exceeds 254,000 pounds gross weight, the application must also go through a structural evaluation by the Texas Department of Transportation, and possibly and additional evaluation by the Pavements Division. Time for these evaluations to be completed may require as much as one to two months.

While the dimensions of a superload and the time to process the permit application may vary from state to state, it is always advisable to plan ahead. Even while your cargo is still in the manufacturing stage, it’s not too soon to address the transportation phase of your project.

How are your fees determined?

Rates vary based on the commodity, origin, destination, size, weight, and equipment required. Our sales representatives will ask you for specific information, enabling them to calculate the most effective and economical means to address your needs.

Can I have a salesman call on my firm to discuss volume rates or project details?
